What Is Your First Impression?
There is never a second chance to make a first impression. Therefore, you need to make sure that the first impression is a positive one. What do you think the first impression your users will have of your product or service is going to be? One of the easiest ways to answer this question is to think about what your impression is like. Take a look at the future you’ve created. What do you think about it? Is it behaving as you thought it would? Do you think it is going to be useful to your users? If you make a positive first impression, you’ll have an easier time convincing your users to explore other areas of that specific product or service.
How Does Their Behavior Reflect on Your Features?
Next, you need to take a look at how your users are interacting with your feature. You should have programs that allow you to track what your users do when they interact with your product or service. Do you notice that they are using the feature as it was intended? Or, do you notice that your users are trying to avoid that specific feature? If your users are interacting with that feature, is it behaving as you expected it would? If your users are avoiding that specific feature, why do you think they are doing so? Take a look at the behavior of your users, and think about what it tells you about your product or service.
Is the Product Too Similar To Another One?
Finally, another critical question you need to ask is whether your product or service is too similar to another one that is already on the market. Everyone gets a source of inspiration from somewhere. You may have gotten inspiration for your specific features from another product or service produced by your competitor. There is nothing wrong with this, but you still need to make sure your product or service is significantly different from another one already on the market. People do not like change. If they feel like your product or service does not offer them anything new, they are going to stick with what is comfortable for them. Think about whether your product or service is too similar to one already on the market.
Think Carefully About Your User Research
During your user research, you want to find out as much information about your users as possible; however, if you focus on everything, you will have a difficult time collecting any useful information. Therefore, you need to try to keep the scope of your user research interview as narrow as possible. If you expand too far outside of your scope, your information will not be specific enough. As a result, you might have a hard time figuring out what to do next.
